Episode 22 – “It’s In Your Hands Now“

Previously on Desperate Housewives

As the new affair was exposed… (Susan finds Jennifer under the bed.) the old one also saw the light of the day. (Susan learns that Jessie & Jennifer was lovers) Karen get into the trap... (Karen in the basement) but as the family of her enemy helped her…(Libby unties Karen) she learned the truth about him. (Libby & Karen find out that Joshua’s son died in the accident) Lynette wanted to make money…(Lynette talks with Andrew) by helping her friend…(Lynette talks with the doctor) but her friend get into trouble… (Bree asks Orson about wine) and his mother tried to learn the truth about it. (Bree & Orson talk with Dr. Barr) And Gaby helped her nasty niece… (“So you don't know how amazing it feels for me to be able to tell you to get the hell out of my house for good and to never come back.”) to make the final decision. (Gaby throws Ana’s suitcase out of the door)

Mary Alice : “Joshua Carlson was a good husband (Joshua & Lorelai at the altar), a good father (Joshua reads a story to his son [guest star Lukas Rodriguez]) and a good neighbor (Joshua helps unnamed neighbor to clear the driveway of snow)…but it turned out that he was pretending as he always has in habit. But after his beloved wife died he realized what brought her to this. He blamed himself and decided to change his life. So then he became a truly good neighbor…as for being a father – he tried to be good, but his son Everett cannot forgive him and also blamed him for his mother’s death. (Joshua’s and Everett’s argument) As Everett turned 18 he moved out from his family home in Utah and turned to the drugs. (Everett takes away some boxes) After that Joshua was alone and turned to the alcohol to solve his problems. He also went to the therapist (guest star Margaret Colin), who helped him to get out of the claws of addiction. Therapist also helped him to get rid of the guilt which tormented him over the years and make some decisions. He decided to renew his relation with his son. As his son finally forgave him (Joshua and Everett [guest star Christian Kane] has a serious talk) he got back the only one he loved (they both laugh). But soon after he got his son back…he was alone again as his son was taken away from him by someone else (car crash), so he decided to come back to his family in Fairview. As he finally had his wife on his own he accidentally learned the truth about his son’s death…and the only one who was responsible for this tragedy was his “good” neighbor…So Joshua decided to start pretending again…

In the morning Joshua dressed in cream-coloured suit walks down the street as Susan and Felicia have a chat by coffee on Susan’s porch…
“-You know? Joshua wants to help us with volunteering.” As astonished look appears at Felicia’s face Joshua approaches to Susan’s house. “-Talk of the devil and the devil appears” – Susan laughs and takes a draught of the coffee to hide behind the cup. “-Hello ladies.” Joshua greets with a big smile and looks at Felicia. “- Susan, can you tell me when is this trip we talked about?” he asks and leans on the balustrade. “-The trip is tomorrow.” – Susan smiles and looks at silent Felicia. “-You’re going too, Ms. Tilman?” – he asks with his wicked smile. Felicia confirms with the nod. As Joshua smiles once again his sister Libby goes to the porch and notices that Joshua talks with them. “-Can’t wait to help you, Susan.” – he smiles again and says goodbye. As Joshua exits her porch Susan asks : “Is something wrong?”. “- No, no everything’s alright. I’m just thinking about Karen’s disappearance. She wasn’t seen for several days and after that she just puts us off.”

Joshua goes to his home as he didn’t came back for the night.

Mary Alice : “Yes, Joshua Carlson started pretending again only to settle up with the only one left enemy…just as he thought the only one…

Guest starring : Anna Friel (as Jennifer Bauer), Liz Torres (as Connie Solis), Lukas Rodriguez (as little Everett), Christian Kane (as grown-up Everett), Margaret Colin (as therapist), Anthony Azizi (as Dr. Barr).

Mary Alice : “Deception. It’s the practice we use to hide something which we’re embarrassed of. We use it to hide the ugly truth from our friends and family. It’s applied to convince others to something that isn’t true only to quiet their fears. It’s exploited to not cause the pain to our intimates. And it’s also utilized to hide our true intentions.

Bree goes to Andrew’s home. She knocks at the door, but no one answers. She knocks one more time, but there’s no reaction, so Bree decides to push the door-handle. As she enters the living-room she finds Andrew lying on the coach, drunk. She calls his name and tugs him by the sleeves. As Andrew doesn’t react she decides that she must use the water. She goes to the kitchen for the glass of water…but before she can take it she finds a couple of empty wine bottles and she’s thrilled…and a little tear drifts through her cheek. She comes back to the living room and takes a deep breath before she spills a water on her son’s head. Andrew finally awakes and says something under his breath. “- I think we need to talk. And believe me, nothing’s alright.” – Bree says as the screen becomes black.

It’s raining and Gaby sits in her living-room at the coach and stares at the window thinking about Ana and waiting for Carlos. She makes a call to aunt Connie (guest star Liz Torres) to ask her about Ana…but she tells her that Ana didn’t show up, so Gaby’s becoming worried about her. She feels a little guilty about this whole situation and tells aunt Connie that she would call her back as soon as she’ll get some info on her granddaughter. As Gaby ends the conversation with Connie, Carlos walks to the living-room. As Gaby notices that he’s here she falls into his arms saying that she missed him. As Carlos sees Gaby’s facial expression she asks her what’s wrong…she lies to him and says “I was just worried that you’ll never come back” and laugh nervously. As Carlos kisses her Celia & Juanita run downstairs and hug their father. Minute later Juanita asks her mother where’s Ana, which leads to some uncomfortable situation for Gaby who looks the other way as the screen becomes black.

Back at Joshua’s house as he’s alone he goes to check up to the basement if Karen’s still there. And when he opens the door he receives a huge shock. As he realizes what just happened he flies into a rage. Then he tries calm down himself and goes to the kitchen do drink a coffee as Libby comes home totally wet. She shuts the umbrella and looks at her weird-looking brother as she tries to hide that she knows the truth about Everett. “- Is something wrong” – Libby asks as she enters the kitchen. Joshua says that everything’s ok, but Libby knows that he found out that Karen’s gone. She tries to break the awkward silence with asking him for a coffee. Joshua decides to change his plans as he suspects that Mrs. McCluskey was at Felicia’s already. “- Here you go.” – he give her cup of coffee “-You know what? I think that I’ll stay home for the weekend. Susan and Ms.Tilman would manage without me.” – he smiles to his sister which suspicions about her brother grow. She sees him through and thinks that he would do something to Mrs. McCluskey. So as she finishes drinking coffee she goes out at Karen’s and Susan’s to tell them both that her brother is not going to the volunteer-trip.

It’s evening and Lynette is in her bed thinking about her being a surrogate mother for Andrew’s child and about the possible complications as Tom enters the bedroom. He asks her if everything’s alright and she answers “- Nothing’s alright, Tom. We have no money to raise our six children…when I want to get it by helping my friend’s son to become a father I learn that it might be complications…and I cannot do this to him. I cannot take the money for giving birth the ill child…So what?! We need the money and I don’t know what to do…” – she starts to cry very loudly. Tom is shocked and tries to calm his wife as he knows what it means for her “- Honey, we’ll find a way. You know that this surrogate-mother being thing would be a dangerous not only for Andrew’s unborn child but also for you! You gave birth to a six children and in this age you shouldn’t continue to do this…I don’t know…We’ll find a way.” – he hugs her as the screen becomes black.

Back at the Solises house at night Carlos talks to Gaby when they’re in the bedroom. He relates her his business trip to Canada. He also says that he saw in TV that “- (…) Felicia is wanted for killing some Carlson guy…I don’t know what to think about it. They must made some mistake in making the identikit.” and he shakes his head and laughs and unties his tie, but Gaby doesn’t listen to him as she’s really worried about Ana and she nervously holds the telephone in her hands. So Gaby didn’t even hear the thing about Felicia being wanted. Gaby’s calling to every hospital and police central in the whole state, but no one found the patient or victim named Ana Solis. As tired Mrs. Solis finishes all the calls Carlos asks her if she even listened to him and she answers to him that they’re going to talk tomorrow because she’s really tired and have a bigger problems on her hands.

The next day in the morning Susan prepares to the field trip and communicates her pregnant daughter all the tips regarding to her little brother MJ as her father-in-law spends the whole days at work. Susan packs her things into the big suitcase just like all the women. Then she writes at the sheet of paper the phone-number to some resort in which they’re going to stay with the children. She goes up to bedroom and says goodbye to her husband. Moment later someone knocks at her door. Susan runs downstairs and opens the door to find Jennifer (guest star Anna Friel) at her porch. She wants to talk to her about what she learned at the school a couple days ago. She asks her to not tell Katherine that she and Jessie have met because Katherine will become jealous. Susan laughs nervously and adds that she knows how jealous Katherine can be. She also says that she wouldn’t tell her anything as long as she and Jessie wouldn’t do something suspicious…something like she did at Katherine’s house last week. Susan tells Jennifer that she’s now in hurry because she’s going to the field trip with the children and the thing about Jessie’s presence escapes from her mouth. Jennifer offers her help and says that she would be ready in a moment. Susan agrees to the idea of Jennifer as one of the volunteers especially when Joshua cannot go to the trip. Susan warns Jennifer about her contacts with Jessie at the trip.

Lynette decides that she wouldn’t be surrogate-mother for Andrew’s unborn child and goes to Bree to tell her that. Bree greets her with the smile and takes the news in. Bree tells Lynette that’s good for both of them especially as Andrew would quit this idea. As Lynette exits Bree’s house Dr. Barr (guest star Anthony Azizi) knocks at the door and Bree lets him in. They talk about Andrew’s problem and what she saw yesterday, they agree to arrange the meeting between Bree’s son and Dr. Barr at the dinner.

As Gaby drinks the coffee in the kitchen Carlos tells her what he saw in the Canadian TV. Gaby is shocked by this news and don’t believe this. Later she calls to Lynette who hasn’t seen Karen since she was missing.

As Joshua is at his house the female trio : Susan, Felicia and Jennifer leave the Wisteria Lane for the trip and he makes the plan of his revenge.

Lynette goes to Karen’s house to find out that she’s ok. She asks her why she was gone for a couple days but Mrs. McCluskey puts her off. After almost hour of Lynette’s scooping Karen admits that Joshua kidnapped her. Lynette is shocked and after that she tells that she don’t care what it takes to learn the truth and she will help her “-(…) to lock up this false bastard.”. As they talk over about the whole Joshua’s story trying to figure out what’s going to be his next move Lynette’s cell rings. That’s Gaby – she tells her what Carlos saw in the Canadian TV. Lynette shares the news with Karen, and Mrs. McCluskey admits that she and Libby were snooping around after her enemy’s sister helped her and that they found out this info in the internet. Moment later Lynette tells Karen that Felicia leave for the trip with Susan in which Joshua’s presence was also expected.

As the ladies are talking in the McCluskey’s house Joshua takes his gun and gets to his car leaving Wisteria Lane and going to resort where Felicia, Susan and Jennifer would be staying at.

Mary Alice : “ We all apply the deception. Some of us use it to hide our biggest fears. (Felicia in the car thinking about Everett and Joshua). Others use it to protect theirselfs from embarrassment. (Bree, Orson, Andrew and Dr. Barr at the dinner). Others use it to protect their intimates from causing them the pain (Jennifer talks with Susan about Jessie). Others use it to hide the ugly truth about their decisions (Gabrielle thinks about Ana). And finally there are those who use the deception to hide their true intentions (Joshua in his car) which can lead to the dangerous events (the gun at the other seat).
