Cytat:
What would smoldering August be without some burnin' dish from our favorite brothel of catty bitches and hunky husbands, otherwise known as Wisteria Lane?

Today's news comes from one of our myriad dee-lish Desperate desperados, and is in regard to the family of new resident hottie Drea de Matteo...

She will, as you know, become the show's new neighborhood vixen following the all-too-soon axing of Nicollette Sheridan. And while all the rags will have you thinking that Drea's character is the new troublemaker on the cul-de-sac, we're hearing that it's her son, Ben—played by fresh-faced hottie Beau Mirchoff—who will really be the one shaking things up. By going for the gay neighbors or Susan or both? Can't wait to find out?

Yep, we're told that just-under-21-stud Beau (you may recognize him as the angsty Justin Chatwin-type from Scary Movie 4) is going to bring the drama to the ladies of the Lane. Or perhaps his storyline will be more ABC (less Showtime) and he'll romance young Andrea Bowen's character? But hopefully he'll bring a little more sexual white chocolate to one of the older, more experienced housewives. We're excited, bitches.

But that's not all, Housewives fans, there's even more scoop...

Straight off of our sneaky Are You Smarter Than a Gossip Columnist? bit, we're also getting this annoying dish about ABC's nasty cigarette habits.

During a recent scene that finds Kathryn Joosten smoking an after-sex cigarette in bed , the crew supposedly had to actually blow smoke from offscreen while K-hon just held the stupid cig in place. Mrs. McCluskey couldn't inhale a thing, owed entirely to the bitchy little suits at ABC, who won't actually allow characters on any of their programs to actively take a drag off a cig as long as that camera is running.

The scandal isn't about Joosten so much as it's about those damned stupid company policies. You've got Morgan Mayhem doing meth every which way in real life, and on cable shows like Mad Men you can't watch one scene without spotting a friggin' fag at least somewhere. Get with the damn times, ABC! When will the networks catch up with cable and the real world? Maybe when people on TV start acting like real people, perhaps?

There's a reason HBO always sweeps at the Emmys, and it ain't just 'cause it can show a pair o' tits every once in a while.

A new family moves onto Wisteria Lane when "Desperate Housewives" returns this season, and ET gets the inside scoop from Jeffrey Nordling, who plays Nick Vitale, husband to Angie Vitale (Drea de Matteo).

"He is not from these parts," Nordling tells ET. "He doesn't really belong [on Wisteria Lane]. There is a dark secret in their past, which you don't quite figure out in the beginning. But something happened. It is not quite witness protection, but …"

Nordling says the hardest part of his role is getting the syntax right, because the characters don't talk "as proper as the writers write."

Not a new character, but returning after an absence is Andrea Bowen, who plays Susan's (Teri Hatcher) daughter Julie.

"Technically, I have been at Princeton and then graduate school. I come back with secrets of my own," Bowen tells ET. She also reveals that she may have romance in her future, saying, " I think people will be surprised at who Julie ends up with."

It might be Angie and Nick's son, because Bowen admits that she gets to interact a lot with the new family.

Bowen also says that exec producer/creator Marc Cherry had always told her that she would return. "He told me, 'We have to make people miss you. You have to go away to come back in a big way,'" she shares.

And speaking of Susan, Dana Delany, who plays Katherine, admits that some things never change and that this season, as in the one previous, Katherine and Susan still will be fighting over Mike (James Denton). "That will be endless," she says.

The new season of "Desperate Housewives" returns Sunday, Sept. 27 at 9 p.m. on ABC.

Miller in Fontana, Calif.: What about Perry Reeves? Are we going to see more of her in the last half of the season?

As of this week's episode, we know that Mrs. Ari is none to pleased with her hubby for covering up Andrew's affair. Besides the brand new Maserati (which she tells us she'll more than likely keep), what are Perry's plans for the matriarch? "Ari and I are not done yet. We're still hanging in there. I could have an affair with my tennis coach, anything could happen. Right?" Before you freak out, we're pretty sure she was just joshin' because this is how the rest of our convo went: "I could realize that I've always been in love with Teri Hatcher and leave him. Wouldn't that be a funny storyline? Mrs. Ari gets hired on Desperate Housewives and realizes that it's true love? It would be different." There you have it. A Desperate Housewives-Entourage crossover event.

EDIT 20 SIERPNIA!

Question: Please, some Desperate Housewives scoop. —Arno
Ausiello: Marc Cherry tells me that he worked out a “cool situation” with Shawn Pyfrom that both grants the actor’s wish to pursue other projects and ensures that Andrew doesn’t vanish without a trace. It’s basically called being bumped to recurring. “He wanted more freedom [so] we [hammered out] a smaller episode order with him,” he says. “I don’t ever want to say goodbye to him completely. He’s a beloved figure around here.”

To będzie klasyczna fabuła w stylu "Kto zabił JR?" - powiedział producent.

Question: Do you have any info on Drea de Matteo’s Desperate Housewives character? I heard some weeks ago that she was going to be a troublemaking vixen with an Edie-like personality. But the newest spoilers suggest she’s nothing like Edie. What’s the deal? —Addip
Ausiello: Let’s ask Marc Cherry. “I don’t see Drea as a replacement for Nicolette [Sheridan],” he says. “Her character is more a replacement for Neal [McDonough] in that she’s [the focus] of the new mystery.” Cherry goes on to describe Drea’s matriarch, Angie Bolen, as “a very loving but tough Italian woman who comes [to Wisteria Lane] with her husband and her kid. They’re running from something. We understand through her actions in the first couple of episodes that she’s a smart woman who will do what she has to to protect her family.”

Question: How about some Desperate Housewives‘ scoop about Bree’s romance with Karl. —M
Ausiello: Poor Orson won’t catch on to his wife’s affair — at least not at first. “We’re going to play him just not understanding what’s going on,” explains Cherry. “He finally gets wind of it and it’ll build to a shocking conclusion in our 10th episode. We’ve got an interesting cliffhanger involving the threesome.”

Question: I heard that Torchwood’s John Barrowman met with Desperate Housewives about a role. True? —Cody
Ausiello: Marc Cherry did meet with Barrowman, but “there is nothing specific planned at the present time,” says a Housewives insider. “But Marc is a huge admirer of [John's] work… and would be thrilled to have him on the show.”

Dave'a (Neal McDonough).

TWO MORE SOAP STARS GET “DESPERATE”!

Guess who’s moving into the late Edie Britt’s home on ABC’s DESPERATE HOUSWIVES? Nowi sąsiedzi zdesperowanych gospodyń
Bohaterki serialu "Desperate Housewives" powitają wkrótce nowych sąsiadów.
Do obsady telewizyjnego przeboju dołączą Rebecca Staab oraz David Chisum, w roli nowych mieszkańców przedmieść miasta Fairview. Dreę de Matteo będziemy mogli podziwiać w kinach w styczniu 2010 roku w obrazie "New York, I Love You"

Przetłumaczę to później, chyba, że Arno to zrobi...

Cytat:
It was bound to happen: The increasing depletion of TV ad dollars as a result of digital video recorders has led one network to commit murder. ABC has recruited Desperate Housewives creator Marc Cherry to produce a series of eight commercials for Sprint that will unfold as a weekly soap opera. The goal? Pausing the fast-forward phenomenon. “They’re kind of like the old Taster’s Choice commercials, but we added a lot of wicked dark humor, murder and adultery and betrayal,” explains Cherry of the 35-second spots, which will air once a week during Housewives beginning with the Sept. 27 premiere. “It’s very Desperate Housewives,” adds exec producer Sabrina Wind. “It was shot on our set, with our crew, and written by our writers.” None of the show’s regulars will appear in the ads, but Cherry has found a way to connect the marketing experiment with the ABC hit. Soap stars Rebecca Staab and David Chisum — who play the couple at the center of what Cherry calls the “murderous love triangle” — will cross over to Housewives “as background extras.” Your move, TiVo.

Desperate Housewives' Sexy New Season!

Desperate Housewives’ Teri Hatcher and Felicity Huffman united with Brothers & Sisters on-screen hubbies Luke Macfarlane and Matthew Rhys and some 3,300 other athletes on September 13 to help raise more than $1 million for Childrens Hospital Los Angeles at the 23rd Annual Nautica Malibu Triathlon. Felicity and Matthew ran, Luke biked, and triathlete Teri ran, biked and swam! Afterward the exhausted ABC actors spilled some exciting spoilers.

According to Felicity, Housewives’ new season is “all about Lynette’s boobs,” which greatly expand in her pregnant character’s second trimester. “She goes from an A cup to a D, which, of course, makes Tom really happy.” (To keep her pregnancy a secret from boss Carlos, Lynette will say she’s had a boob job!)

Felicity describes her own chest size as “an A on a good day. I mean, Eva [Longoria Parker] looks busty compared to me.” Since the costumers were given orders that they must, must increase her bust, “they’ve been literally taking the skin from my back and wrapping it around. But by God, I have cleavage. I had guys on set come up and ask, ‘Can I touch them?’”

“It doesn’t look comfortable!” remarks Teri, whose character, Susan, is about to expose her own assets for a very sexy nude scene! Though we have to wait until September 27 to find out if Mike married Susan or Katherine, it seems this triangle is far from over. The odd threesome is about to shoot a romantic candlelit scene in a bubble bath! BTW, I hear the show is planning to place the Housewives in another harrowing November-sweeps disaster following 2007’s tornado and 2008’s club fire. I can’t reveal what it is, but if you “wing” it, you might guess.

Question: Is it true that Katherine will be getting her edge back on Desperate Housewives this season? —Andres

Wywiad ze scenarzystą i producentem DH - Bobem Daily na temat cliffhangera zeszłego sezonu, nadchodzącego sezonu, ciąży Lynette, romansu Bree, siostrzenicy Carlosa - Any, wątku Boba i Lee, nowej rodziny na ulicy, 100 odcinka, powrotu Dave'a i...o zabiciu Edie itd.

INTERVIEW: "DESPERATE HOUSEWIVES" EXECUTIVE PRODUCER BOB DAILY ON OLD CLIFFHANGERS, NEW NEIGHBORS
By Jim Halterman

The closing moments of "Desperate Housewives" last season found Mike Delfino (James Denton) at the altar with a bride that could have been either long-love Susan (Teri Hatcher) or Katherine (Dana Delaney). In the first minute of this Sunday's sixth season premiere, viewers will find out the identity of the bride and, true to form with the ABC soap, there are more surprises to be had throughout the entire hour and season. For the lowdown on what surprises are in store, executive producer Bob Daily shared how the writers flip-flopped on who the mystery bride would be, constructed a new family to plug into the mix and how killing off Edie (Nicollette Sheridan) should send a message to viewers on future life-threatening situations for the cast.

Jim Halterman: Without giving away who Mike (James Denton) chooses to be his bride, was it a tough decision as to who would be his wife and who would be the scorned woman?

Bob Daily: I will tell you that when we left the writers' room last season we thought it was going to be one person and within the first week after our return we changed our minds. How's that for tough?

JH: Why did you change your mind?

BD: Honestly, it was two things. One, it was based on the anecdotal fan reaction after the season finale of season five aired and I think all the writers had very similar experiences with fans. The other reason was just what would be the most fun story going forward?

JH: It is very easy to assume that any family that comes to the neighborhood is going to be some kind of trouble and the Bolen family seems to be no exception. What is the thought process for constructing this new family?

BD: That one was driven in large part by casting because when we discovered we could get Drea de Matteo (who plays Angie Bolen) we thought, "Oh my gosh!" Based on what she's played in the past, she's certainly the last woman you'd expect to move into Wisteria Lane and we thought that would be a lot of fun to play that contrast so that's where we started from.

JH: The Bolen son, Danny (Beau Mirchoff) looks like trouble from the start.

BD: He's trouble, isn't he? There's trouble but lots of surprises along the way, some of which will be happening in the first third of the season but lots we'll be dropping at the end of the year.

JH: Lynette is not happy about her unexpected twin pregnancy and is even going to keep it a secret for as long as she can. Is this going to be a comedic or dramatic arc for Felicity Huffman?

BD: Well, I will tell you that episode two is very dramatic and then it becomes comic so we're trying to get a little of both. That storyline starts out very dramatic and then there's a funny, comic twist. We're in the middle of writing episode eight now and it all seems to be paying off.

JH: When you put Bree (Marcia Cross) and Karl (Richard Burgi) together, did you realize you were going to get some nice sparks there with the actors?

BD: We've always loved Richard Burgi. He started off season one as Susan's ex-husband and he's just one of those guys that anytime you bring him back you know it's going to be fun. The crew loves him so when we started talking about Bree having an affair he just jumped to mind as the last guy you'd expect for her to be with so there's a lot of fun in playing that contrast.

JH: Gaby (Eva Longoria Parker) and Carlos (Richard Antonio Chavira) have taken in his teenage niece, who essentially seems to be a younger version of Gaby. Is that what you were going for?

BD: Exactly what we're going for in some ways. I think last year we played the fun of what if Gaby had two daughters who were so unlike her and this year this is what it will be like to have someone in the household who is Gaby at age 17. Will she be able to help her or will they always be fighting and what will that relationship be like?

JH: I know Neal McDonough's character came to an end last season but the actor was so great. Any chance the actor might come back in some other capacity?

BD: We'd love to bring him back but it's a bit tricky because we made him a homicidal crazy man but if you have any good ideas to bring him back, let us know because we love Neal and thought he was great.

JH: He was already evil so maybe the nice twin shows up for a change.

BD: [Laughs.] Exactly. You don't see the nice twin show up as often.

JH: I know the gay couple Bob (Tuc Watkins) and Lee (Kevin Rahm) is going to be adopting a child this year. Wasn't that supposed to happen last season?

BD: We talked about it and we always have this problem with the men of Wisteria Lane. There are six women that we have to take care of every week and it's really tough to give the men their own storylines and as funny as I think that would be I think we'll do it someday.

JH: I thought the show handled Nicollette Sheridan leaving last year in a great way from a story perspective. How are you prepared for other actors to leave since the show is getting older?

BD: I think we felt with Nicollette that we hated to see her go but I always sort of felt that you put these characters in jeopardy and then the audience thinks, "They aren't really going to kill them because they're the stars of the show," or that sort of jeopardy becomes false so it was very valuable for us to say to the audience, "We actually can kill them." It might give us a little more oomph in the future but we don't want to ever say never. I think there are certain people who are pretty safe but going forward, who knows. Going forward if people don't want to be on the show anymore that's certainly a possibility.

JH: Beau Bridges scored an Emmy nomination last year for that great standalone episode last season. Any others like that coming up?

BD: We would love to. That was our 100th episode so it was kind of a special thing but it worked so well and was so much fun to write that I think we would love to try to find something like that. Episode two is not like that but it's all connected around one unified event so we're going to try to do more things like that. As the show heads into later seasons it's fun to break the format and do something a little different.

"Desperate Housewives" premieres its sixth season this Sunday at 9:00/8:00c on ABC.

POST Z 28 WRZEŚNIA

Chcecie wiedzieć czemu Cherry ZNÓW połączył Mike'a z Susan?

Cytat:
If you have yet to watch tonight’s Desperate Housewives premiere, stop reading now. For everyone else, onward and downward…

Housewives wasted no time resolving last May’s “Who’d Mike marry?” cliffhanger. In the opening minutes of tonight’s sixth-season opener, it was revealed that Mike picked soul mate Susan over Katherine. Surprised? Join the club. I thought for sure Housewives boss Marc Cherry would drag out the Susan-Mike romance for another season at least. Heck, he essentially threatened to do just that last April at Paley Fest ‘09, telling fans he would likely string us along for “a few more years” before marrying them off. So what happened to change his mind?

Cherry tells me he had a fan-driven epiphany over the show’s hiatus. “I originally was going to have Mike marry Katherine,” he admits, “but as I went out into the world on vacation and just started talking to people they were so determined that Mike and Susan should get together; they were so insistent on it. So I started to think, ‘What if I went that way.’ And it occurred to me that it might be a more effective way to go as opposed to frustrating the fans for another year by keeping Mike and Susan apart. The fans demanded it in a voice so loud I kind of was scared to go against them.”

There were creative advantages as well. Cherry says having Mike and Susan happily married “plays better for this season’s mystery.” It also gives Dana Delany a meaty woman scorned story, the beginnings of which we saw tonight. “Katherine has a breakdown,” says Cherry. “And it’s going to be one of the funniest breakdowns you’ve ever seen.”

But what about Cherry’s assertion at Paley Fest that happily married couples “are the death” of soap operas? “The truth is, Tom and Lynette have been married for five seasons going on six and I’ve managed to keep that relationship [interesting],” he maintains. “There’s stuff to mine there once we accept that they’re together as a couple.

“I don’t anticipate ever breaking [Mike and Susan] up again,” he continues. “So now it’s up to me to find out what’s interesting about that marriage. I’ve done it with other marriages on the show, I now just have to do it with Mike and Susan.”

Thoughts? Ecstatic Cherry chose not to drag out Mike and Susan’s romance until the end of the series? Or do you fear that marriage will herald the beginning of the end for the star-crossed lovers? Sound off below.

I can't wait to see how Katherine gets her revenge on Susan on Desperate Housewives. — Kelly
MICKEY:
I'm with you, Kelly! The thought of a brooding, bilious Dana Delany makes my cold, black heart sing as well, but my mole tells me that Susan will not takes things lying down. Just as she did at her wedding, Susan will confront Katherine at every turn, which will be problematic when the gun she's holding accidentally goes off.

Question: What’s the deal with Drea de Matteo’s back scar on Desperate Housewives? It kind of reminded me of Kimberly Shaw’s great scar reveal of ‘94. —Chris
Ausiello:
That’s the first thing I thought of, too! I was curious if Marc Cherry was intentionally paying homage to Melrose when he wrote that scene, so you know what I did? I asked him! “It never occurred to me because the scars are in such different parts of the body,” he says. “Also, [Drea's scar] seems like a little bit more of an organic piece of information as opposed to the very theatrical unveiling of Marcia’s scar on Melrose. I never made a connection between the two.” Cherry goes on to say that he’ll be “dropping clues throughout the season” about the origin of her back blemish. “About the midway point of the season we’ll start to find out what happened.”
